Last month the marae delegates to Te Runanga-a-Iwi o Ngāti Kahu invited Moana Jackson to come and talk to them about constitutional transformation based on Te
Whakaputanga o Te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Moana is arguably the pre-eminent constitutional lawyer in Aotearoa and is also the co-chair (along with Professor Margaret Mutu) of the Constitutional Working Group that was set up by the national Iwi Leaders Forum in 2010 to ensure a constitution for Aotearoa is based upon and entrenches Te Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti. More importantly, as a member of Ngāti Kahungunu, he is our whanaunga. So we are very pleased to advise that Moana will be meeting with Te Runanga-a-Iwi o Ngāti Kahu next week as part of their hui-a-marama.
