07/01/2022: COVID UPDATE FROM NORTHLAND DHB FOR NORTHLAND

Morena. You may have noticed the Ministry of Health announcement yesterday of 1 new case in Northland.

This resulted from a repeat Covid test taken from a known Auckland case that had already completed their isolation period in Northland.

This will be classified as a ‘historic case’ at our end when all the contacts of the case have completed their isolation periods.

We therefore continue to see no new cases in Northland.

Papa Bill, older brother to Whaea Patricia looks back at the affects that Tuberculosis had on his immediate family with the passing of his late father.

Papa Bill shares how his father was in the Army and when he was examined for overseas service they found he had Tuberculosis. This resulted in him being in an institution in Hawkes Bay for two years with no cure available.

05/01/2022: KAIMAUMAU-WAIHARARA FIRE UPDATE

Good morning everyone, today is day 19 of the firefighting effort at the Waiharara wildfire. Here is an update of what the team is up to today.

Today, there are 55 firefighters, six dozers and diggers, and four helicopters working to ensure the 2400-hectare fire doesn’t escape its containment lines.

Fire crews will be covering the priority areas on all four flanks of the fire.
